Jean-Paul Pinsonneault (1923 - 1978) was a Canadian writer, who won the Prix Québec-ParisNew, W. H., ''Encyclopedia of Literature in Canada''. University of Toronto Press, 2002. ISBN 0802007619. p. 79.〕 and the Governor General's Award for French-language fiction in 1964 for his novel ''Les terres sèches''.〔"Vanier presents literary awards". ''Ottawa Journal'', April 27, 1965.〕 He also published the plays ''Cette terre de faim'', ''Electre'' and ''Terre d'aube'',〔(Fonds Jean-Paul Pinsonneault ). Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec.〕 and the novels ''Jérôme Aquin'', ''Le mauvais pain'' and ''Les abîmes de l'aube''.
''Les terres sèches'' was one of the first novels in Quebec history to directly address LGBT themes.〔Warner, Tom. ''Never Going Back: A History of Queer Activism in Canada''. Toronto: University of Toronto Press, 2002. ISBN 0802036082. p. 54.〕
He was also the publisher of Éditions Fides,〔 as well as a magazine editor.〔
